A Christian School
Windswept Academy is a private, non-denominational Christian school, dedicated to providing students from the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation with a Christ-centered, quality, academic education in a Biblically directed learning environment. Our mission is to prepare students for leadership and Christian service in their community and the world.
Windswept Academy began its first school year on August 27, 2009, with 12 students in grades Kindergarten through Second, at the home of the First Baptist Church of Eagle Butte, South Dakota. Windswept Academy will begin its second year this August with 19 children enrolled in Kindergarten through Sixth grade. The academic program will expand to include the Latin language, and the history of music and art. A rigorous physical education program for each grade level is being implemented to complete the scope of training. Due to our rapid expansion, we have outgrown our current home at the First Baptist Church. Negotiations have been completed for a property several blocks away, and renovations necessary for school use will be initiated in September. Windswept will relocate to the new building at the earliest possible time. This new facility will be capable of handling growth for the next several years.
Windswept Academy is preparing to build a permanent facility that will support Kindergarten through Twelfth grade, plus a variety of other outreach functions, including adult education. This permanent facility will be located on our twenty-five acres of rolling prairie located four miles west of the town of Eagle Butte.
